The Broncos (6-1) are coming off a big win against Cisco College (44-7) after their first loss of the season and in the SWJCFC to Tyler (12-20) the week before. They're now 4-1 against conference rivals. Freshman QB Koby Mausau ranks fifth nationally for passing touchdowns (13). While Freshman DE Vuli Taufatofua is ranked fourth in the nation with 7.5 sacks on the season.
The 2021 DI Champions are averaging 33.3 points per game and allowing 18.1 points per game for opponents. The game against Cisco showed improvement on offense, after the tough loss to Tyler, which is what fans have been waiting for. The Cisco game was the first time NMMI broke the 400-yd offensive mark since their game against Snow on September 3.
Trinity Valley (TX) moved up six slots to eighth in the newest NJCAA DI Football poll. The Cardinals came from behind to win their fifth straight game last weekend. Trinity Valley outscored Navarro 22-7 in the fourth quarter and won 29-23. Running back Demonte Seymore scored the game-winning touchdown with just over a minute left in regulation. It was his first touchdown of the season. The Cardinals are 5-1 (4-0) and have already matched their win total from last season. They are the only team left with an unbeaten record in Region XIV.
The Cardinals have an explosive offense, which averages 36.5 points per game. That ranks fifth in the country. Trinity Valley does the most damage to its opponents through the air. The squad is third in the nation with 274.8 passing yards per game. Quarterback Darion Peace has thrown 11 touchdowns this season and six of them were during the last three contests. The Cardinals are 15th nationally in scoring defense, holding their opponents to 19.8 points per game. Defensive lineman Casey McCoy leads the team with 54 tackles and defensive back Zayteak McGhee leads the team with three interceptions.
