Week seven NJCAA Game of the Week on ESPN+ announced
Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has announced details for the week seven NJCAA Football Game of the Week on ESPN+. The match-up will feature the No. 1 New Mexico Military Broncos traveling to face the Tyler Junior College Apaches on Saturday, October 8 at 3:00 PM ET / 2:00 PM CT in Tyler, TX.

The Broncos currently sit a the top of the NJCAA DI Football poll with a 5-0 record. The week seven matchup will be New Mexico Military's third appearance in the NJCAA Football Game of the Week on ESPN+ after claiming wins over Snow (38-7) and Navarro (40-35) at the Wool Bowl in Roswell, NM in weeks two and three of the season. Most recently, the defending national champions defeated No. 12 Blinn 24-21 to hand the Buccaneers their first loss of the season. New Mexico Military will face Tyler in the Game of the Week after a bye in week six.
New Mexico Military enters the Game of the Week averaging 294.2 yards per game and is second in the nation in passing touchdowns with 13. The Bronco offense is scoring 35.4 points per game while the defense is holding opponents to 20.0 points. Offensively, New Mexico Military is led by quarterback Koby Muasau who leads the nation with 11 passing touchdowns per game and ranks in the top 10 with 227.5 yards per game. Muasau spreads the ball to a strong receiving core made up of Treyvion Beamon, Terrence Moore, and Malik Phillips, each with 16 receptions so far this season. On the defensive side, linebacker Champ Jenkins leads the Broncos with 7.3 tackles per game. DE Vili Taufatofua ranks fifth in the nation with 4.0 sacks.
The Apaches enter the Game of the Week with a 1-2 record. Tyler kicked off its season with a 65-0 win over Resolution Prep before falling to SWJCFC conference foes Kilgore (41-10) and Trinity Valley (28-27). The matchup against Trinity Valley was featured as the NJCAA Football Game of the Week on ESPN+ in week four. The Apaches were narrowly edged out by the Cardinals in a late-game push. Ahead of the Game of the Week contest, Tyler will face Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Saturday, October 1 on the road in Miami.
Tyler is averaging 287.0 yards per game with 147.7 yards on the ground. The Apache's offense is averaging 34.0 points per game while the defense has allowed 23.0 points per game so far this season. Tyler ranks third in the nation with 5.7 yards per carry. Sophomore Kywon Morgan leads the Apaches with 63.0 all-purpose yards per game while Malik Williams leads the defense with 13.0 total tackles, one sack, 1.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble return. Punter William Yurkunas set an NJCAA Football record with a 92-yard punt against Trinity Valley, breaking a record previously set during the 2016 season.
