Perry Keith Breaks All-Time NJCAA Coaching Wins Record
Warner, OK - Perry Keith, the longtime baseball coach at Connors State College, has broken the junior college all-time coaching wins record. With a pair of wins over Seminole State on Saturday, Keith notched his 1,805th victory, surpassing the previous record of 1,804 held by Seminole State College's Lloyd Simmons.
Keith, who has been coaching at Connors State for the past 38 years, is one of the most successful coaches in junior college baseball history. In addition to his 1,805 wins, he has led the Cowboys to 7 NJCAA World Series appearances, 9 Region 2 titles, 18 conference championships, has coached 40 All-Americans, and has had over a dozen players make it to the Major Leagues.
"Perry Keith is a legend in college baseball, and his record-breaking achievement is a testament to his dedication and hard work," said Connors State College President Ronald Ramming. "While we have certainly enjoyed the wins, what has impressed me the most over the years has been how he has developed these players into fine young men and prepared them for life outside of baseball."
Keith's record-breaking win was met with cheers and applause from the Cowboy faithful, who have supported him throughout his illustrious career. "We are so proud of Coach Keith and everything he has accomplished here at Connors. At the start and end of every season, he always says that what we do here is make better men, husbands, employees, and fathers. And if you look at the many former Cowboys he has coached, you'll see a lot of good men. To me, that means a whole lot more than anything they've accomplished on the baseball field," said a longtime supporter of Cowboys baseball, Angie Lane.
Keith's achievement has been recognized by many in the baseball world, including former players, coaches, and colleagues. In attendance for the occasion were a multitude of Keith's former players and their families.
While Keith's milestone win is a historic moment in junior college baseball history, he shows no signs of slowing down. 38 years, 1,805 wins, and many more to come!
