NJCAA extends Division II Volleyball Championship partnership with Cedar Rapids through 2030
The agreement is a three-year renewal with Cedar Rapids Tourism
CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced a three-year extension of its partnership with Cedar Rapids Tourism, securing Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as the host site of the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship through 2030.
The championship will continue to be played at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in downtown Cedar Rapids, a premier venue that has hosted the event and provided a first-class championship experience for NJCAA student athletes, coaches and fans.
The extension reinforces the strong partnership between the NJCAA, Cedar Rapids Tourism, Kirkwood Community College and the Alliant Energy PowerHouse, while continuing to bring one of the NJCAA's premier volleyball championships to eastern Iowa.
"Cedar Rapids Tourism is excited to extend our agreement with the NJCAA, in partnership with Kirkwood Community College to host the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship through 2030," Jay Fanta, Director of Sports Tourism at Cedar Rapids Tourism, said. "We look forward to working with the NJCAA to put on a great championship and welcoming teams from across the country, which will have a significant impact on our area hotels, restaurants and local attractions."
Since arriving in Cedar Rapids, the championship has benefited from strong community support, outstanding facilities and a welcoming atmosphere that has enhanced the experience for participating programs from across the nation.
"We are excited to see the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship remain in Cedar Rapids through 2030," Riann Mullis, NJCAA Division II Volleyball Chair, said. "The continued partnership speaks to the great experience provided for student athletes, coaches, and fans each year."
NJCAA Vice President for Sport Operations and Championships, Dr. Brett Monaghan, highlighted the value of the long-standing relationship between the Association and its local partners.
"Cedar Rapids has proven to be an excellent location for this championship," Dr. Monaghan said. "Jay and his team, along with the staff at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse, are great partners of the NJCAA, and this extension speaks to that. Our office looks forward to continuing to work alongside them to provide a great student-athlete experience."
The NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship annually brings together the nation's top programs to compete for a national title while generating a positive economic impact for the host community through hotel stays, dining, tourism and entertainment spending.
