DuPage freshman Myers named DIII Volleyball Player of the Year
Charlotte, NC - College of DuPage's Chloey Myers has been named the 2022 NJCAA Division III Player of the Year! The freshman standout was a key piece in the Chaparrals run to its third national title in school history, and first since 1999.
Myers finished the season third in the country in kills with 461, while averaging 3.66 kills per set. The freshman outside hitter also finished with 566.5 points, which was third in the country, and a .253 hitting percentage. On the defensive side, Myers averaged 2.93 digs per set and 40 total blocks on the season.
The No. 2 seeded Chaps knew Myers was one of the key forces that helped them reach the national tournament for the first time in 2003 as they were one of three DuPage student-athletes named to the Midwest District All-Tournnament Team. Throughout the national tournament, Myers opened in the quarterfinals with 24 kills on a .469 hitting percentage to lead them to a win in straight sets. The freshman followed up this performance with a 28-kill performance against No. 3 Century (MN), to lead the Chaps to the National Championship game. Facing off against top-seeded and three-time defending champion Owens (OH), Myers continued with another strong performance and a National Championship! They were named Tournament MVP for their efforts.
DuPage head Volleyball Coach Tolis Koskinaris on Myers:
"Chloey was critical to our team's success all year. She was a true point-scoring machine. She was able to score in multiple ways. While well-known for her attacking, Chloey was also a very dominant blocker and, perhaps less well-known, a strong server. Most importantly, Chloey was a good teammate. The team genuinely enjoyed playing with her during competitions. She always found happiness with and celebrated her teammates' individual accomplishments and the team's success. She is very deserving of this award. We are all thrilled for her."
