Lilly Wyche is Named the 2026 NJCAA DII Softball Player of the Year
Charlotte, NC – Monumental results at the hands of one standout freshman. Lilly Wyche of Murray State College has been named the 2026 NJCAA Division II Softball Player of the Year.
Wyche stunned the nation as she dominated in the batter's box all season long. The Freshman DP led the country in many categories, proving herself as a pitcher's worst nightmare. Launching a nation leading 30 home runs this year, Wyche became known as one of the most threatening hitters in the game due to her power and consistency.
Wyche led the nation in runs batted in (105), total bases (222) and slugging percentage, averaging a staggering 1.213. The Stonewall, Okla. native batted .530 this year with an on base percentage of .611. She totaled 96 runs, 97 hits and 9 triples. She was phenomenal on the base paths, stealing 26 bases. In the field, Wyche was perfect, executing all 42 defensive chances without an error.
"Lilly had a phenomenal year at the plate. Her commitment and dedication to the game was admirable to watch every day. Our coaching staff is proud of her as well as her teammates for continuing to push each other in practice. Furthermore, we are excited for what the future holds for her and our team," said Murray State College Head Coach, Aaron Mullens.
Wyche was a leading force that brought the Aggies to much success this season. Murray State finished the year with a 66-3 record (.957), leading the nation in runs (763), hits (762), doubles (172), home runs (167), RBIs (708), extra base hits (369), total bases (1495), batting average (.423), slugging (.831), shutouts (39) and batting average against (.147). They were ranked in the Top 5 of the NJCAA National Rankings all year, earning the No. 2 seed in the National Tournament.
During the National Tournament, Wyche batted .462, launching two home runs, three RBIs, and 6 hits in her 13 at bats. Leading the Aggies to a third place finish, Wyche earned a spot on the 2026 DII Softball World Series All-Tournament Team.
Wyche's stellar year gained recognition across the country. She was named the 2026 NFCA DII Player of the Year, as well as NFCA First Team All-American. She also earned 2026 NJCAA DII Softball First Team All-America honors. As Wyche returns to the Aggies in 2027, she will continue to dominate and leave her mark on the program.
