NJCAA announces new Board of Regents Officers
Charlotte, NC - With the 2023-24 academic year approaching, the NJCAA has announced its new Board of Regents Officers. The Board elected Troy Tucker of Region 19 as Board Chair, Kerri-Ann McTiernan of Region 15 as Vice Chair, Dale Vos of Region 12 as Treasurer, and Kristen Schuth of Region 3 as Secretary. Each term will take effect on August 1, 2023.
Tucker is the current Director of Athletics at Northampton Community College, stepping into the role in June of 2008. Tucker also serves as the Executive Director of Region 19, overseeing the operations of the 28 NJCAA member colleges, and serves as the Chief Information Officer. In 2018, Tucker was appointed to the NJCAA Board of Regents as the Region 19 representative and was named the Chair of the NJCAA Eligibility Committee in 2020. While serving at the national level, Tucker has shown a deep commitment to the association, advocating for the betterment of its student-athletes and member colleges. Tucker will now step into the role of Board Chair. "I'm truly excited to jump into this role and help the NJCAA continue its upward trajectory. I would like to thank Mr. Mick McDaniel for his dedication and leadership to the association over the past six years as Board Chair. I am looking forward to working with the Board of Regents, College Presidents, Dr. Parker, and the National Office staff as we strive to provide the best experience possible for our student-athletes and member institutions. My focus will be to prioritize Communication, Collaboration, Collegiality, and Consistency while allowing the mission of the NJCAA to guide our decision-making," stated Troy Tucker.
Kerri-Ann McTiernan is Director of Athletics at Nassau Community College where she oversees a 60-person team responsible for overseeing and developing all aspects of the intercollegiate athletics program and the Physical Education Complex. Currently, McTiernan serves on the NJCAA Board of Regents as an at-large representative and has served on numerous national sport committees and councils. McTiernan is the Region 15 Women's Region Director. In this capacity, she represents and liaisons with the NJCAA on behalf of 18 member colleges from NYC, Upstate NY, and Long Island. McTiernan, previously serving as the Board Secretary, will now step into the role of Vice Chair.
Dale Vos of Region 12 was re-elected to serve as the Board's Treasurer. Over more than 30 years at St. Clair County Community College, Dale Vos has served in many roles including Head Men's Basketball Coach, Head Men's Golf Coach, and Athletic Director. Vos has served as the Chair of the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Committee for more than 20 years. One of his first acts as chair was to move the national tournament to a course that met the standards of a championship event. After nearly two decades in charge, Vos has hosted the annual meetings at both the national tournament as well as the NJCAA national meetings every April. In May 2019, Vos was inducted into the NJCAA Men's Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Vos also serves as the Region 12 representative on the NJCAA Board of Regents.
Kristen Schuth was named Director of Athletics at Genesee Community College in May 2013, overseeing 13 intercollegiate athletic programs and multiple facilities on Genesee's main campus. Schuth was promoted to the Assistant Vice President of Student Engagement and Inclusion in 2019, while still serving as the Director of Athletics. Since taking the reins as the Director of Athletics at Genesee, Schuth has become more involved at the regional and national levels. Schuth became part of regional leadership in 2016 when she became the NJCAA Region 3 Women's Assistant Director and currently serves as the NJCAA Region 3 Women's Director. Schuth also chairs the NJCAA Division III Softball Committee, the NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee, and the NJCAA Division III Oversight Committee, in addition to being a member of the NJCAA Lacrosse Committee. Schuth also serves as the Region 3 representative on the NJCAA Board of Regents and will now step into the role of Secretary.
NJCAA Board of Regents
The NJCAA Board of Regents is composed of a minimum of 37 to a maximum of 39 members. The members include twenty-four (24) Regional Representatives, one (1) Board Chair, one (1) Women's Senior Administrator, one (1) Men's Senior Administrator, six (6) Presidential Representatives, and a maximum of six (6) At-Large Representatives. All of these positions are volunteer positions.
