2023 Dedication Award

Dedication Award 

The Dedication Award was created to recognize an individual or group that has provided significant support to the association out of a passion for the association's mission.

Dr. Patty Raube Keller - Boston College

Dr. Raube Keller serves as the Sports Administration Program Director & Adjunct Faculty at Boston College. A former two-sport college student-athlete, Dr. Raube Keller has worked at every level of the NCAA, junior college, and high school all in athletics. Dr. Raube Keller's doctoral dissertation research focused on marginalized women in higher education especially obtaining a career in college athletics.

Dr. Raube Keller played an integral role in providing insights and feedback on the structuring and organizing of the NJCAA Student-Athlete Council. Beginning with the 2020-21 academic year, the NJCAA implemented the association's first-ever national student-athlete council with representation from student-athletes across the NJCAA's 24 regions. The council provides student-athletes with tools for involvement at both the regional and national levels of the association.

Dr. James Borchers - U.S. Council for Athletes' Health
 
Dr. James Borchers is the President & CEO for the U.S. Council for Athletes' Health.  In addition to his role at USCAH, Dr. Borchers is the Chief Medical Officer for the Big Ten Conference, physician and Director for the Division of Sports Medicine at the Wexner Medical Center, and a Professor of Clinical Family Medicine and Sports Medicine at the OSU College of Medicine. He previously spent 18 years as a team physician for the Ohio State Athletics Department, including seven as the head team physician and eighteen working with the football program.
 
As the Official Athletic Healthcare and Safety Consultant of the NJCAA, USCAH and Dr. Borchers were instrumental in assisting the NJCAA in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic and return-to-play procedures. Dr. Borchers provided support to the association by hosting educational webinars for NJCAA members, providing best practices documents, and reviewing return-to-play policies.
